Summer School on Scenario Planning

Security, climate change and the anti-diversity campaigns are contemporary challenges in many societies. The key question is: what to do about them? This summer school proposes a hands-on approach to scenario planning, a foresight tool that can equip students with the knowledge to cope with uncertainties in a rapidly changing world. Scenario planning is used in decision-making by public and private organizations, and by policy-makers. The summer school offers the students a blended platform for learning and training on collaborative teamwork within an international/intercultural context.

After attending the summer school courses, the participants will know how to explore external and strategic scenarios considering the question “What could happen?”, to identify key drivers and potential trends that impact both internal and external factors, to communicate and cooperate in finding appropriate solution to specific problems related to security, migration and climate change and to develop their critical thinking and analytical abilities towards problem-solving.

The summer school brought together 33 BA, MA and PhD students and seven instructors from three different universities (Babes-Bolyai University Cluj, ELTE Budapest and University of Granada).
